SHORT STORY😊:~[SP][RO] "My everything"

Diane is out with friends and notices man at a local fair while waiting for her friends to finish a game. Hes tall, dark skinned, and fit; just her type. He introduces himself as Damian. He ends up walking around the fair with Diane and her friends all night moving from game to game, ride to ride. At the end of the night he asks her if she wants to keep hanging out after. She excitedly agrees and they head to a late night diner where they sit and talk about everything from her friends to her mom and her life. Hes different; she feels open to him like noone shes ever talked to before. She seemingly spills her life store before him in the diner before she realizes it and he seemingly knows just what to say and when to give his responses every twist and turn of her stories. There’s never a dull moment or awkward silence. Just fluid motion of their conversations. Later that night he takes her to a hidden spot in the clearing of some woods just outside of town and they lie in his truck bed under the stars. This inst how she would've guessed her day was going to end when she woke up that morning but shes glad that its ending how it is. Their heart beats seemingly in rhythm as they lie next to each other. They start to date and things are seemingly perfect. More perfect than she could possibly ever had imagined a relationship being. No fighting, no disagreements just relationship bliss. Fast forward a few years; they're now engaged to be married soon. Shes out with a friend running errands when she sees her fiance pulling out of a storage facility. He doesn't have a storage unit. She knows this. Or at-least she thinks...no shes sure he doesn't. But why would he be there? It itches at her. She wants to ask but also doesn't want to invade his privacy for what little time he has left before the marriage. Her friends pry at her until finally one day she scoures the housing looking for the key. She finds it hidden in his basement. Why would it be there?...Now she has to know. Her and her friend go to the storage facility and find the number etched on the key. She stands in-front of the unit watching....waiting...is this even right?....But she has to know. Diane arrives at the storage facility and soon realizes that she cant just walk up to the desk and ask which storage unit is his. She soon comes up with a plan. Shes looked at the key and notices it says "Stanley"; she'll have to just try all the Stanley locks until she finds the unit. Diane briskly walks into the facility behind a renter and, as inconspicuously as she can, moves from unit to unit trying out the key on all of the Stanley locks. Bingo. She opens it and finds all sorts of stuff. Clothes, paintings, pictures, what looks like...kids trophies?... The more she looks the more she realizes that the women in the photographs....they all look like her. Exactly like her actually. If she had a hairstyle and clothes of the time the pictures and paintings were painted she could be their twin. She drops a photograph frame when she meets this realization. Visibly shook she runs out of the unit swiftly pulling the door down and locking it. Almost hyperventilating now she runs to her car and drives straight to Damians' work. She barges in the door and demands to see him. A coworker confused and thinking it must be an emergency goes to the back to retrieve him. Damian comes out from the back of the store confused and slightly stressed assuming an emergency is at foot. His slight concern swiftly explodes when she looks him in the eyes and asks him about the unit. He demands to know how she found it but she refuses to answer cutting him off demanding an answer from him. Damian looks to his co worker telling them he needs to leave. The co worker sighs but agrees. The two walk into the parking lot where she begins to berate him more. He looks at her and simply says "Follow me home and Ill explain everything." Shes not taking that for an answer. Still trying to process what she saw she doesn't want to go. Is this some joke? Is it a romantic gesture? Is he a serial killer who is obsessed with her "type". He pleads with her to come home with him and he'll explain it all. She eventually goes. They get inside and he tells her to sit down on the couch. She sits frustrated contemplating what he could possibly tell her that would make sense of this. He comes back into the room with a single painting as well as pictures ranging from black and white to pictures from the 70's. He props up the painting then hands her the pictures and asks her to go through them she notices a pattern; the same pattern as before. The women in all the photographs look the same...And some of them have her fiance in them?.....But how is that possible? He looks the same in every one. He looks her in the eyes and asks her to promise she wont be mad and that what hes about to tell her will change her life forever. Diane sits in silence not sure what to expect. He tells her that hes been alive as long as he can remember and that hes never been able to pass with his friends, family, and lovers. He tells her that he is immortal. He explains that they're soul mates and that when she dies he simply waits for a few years for her to be reincarnated. He always knows because he gets this feeling in his chest. This longing. He searches the globe for her until he finds her. The closer he gets the stronger the feeling gets until he finally sees her for the first time again and he just melts. She looks at him and asks "so the fair....was that the first time....how many...how many times have you met me?...Do you..." He answers her with a light soft tone "I've actually lost count at this point...and yes, the fair was the first time I saw you this time."
