SHORT STORY😊:~[NF] Our perfect love

I remember the phone ringing just after landing back home from an adventurous vacation around the Mediterranean. A close friend of mine welcoming me back and inviting me to a party the next Saturday at her place, telling me I absolutely had to meet someone and that she had found the right one for me.

I accepted although my mind was concentrated on somehow getting rid of the cocaine fallout and be ready for work once again. I have to admit, the prospect of going back managing the company had no appeal but the partners were visiting and I had to make sure operation was running smoothly. After all, I had been away for almost three weeks, a personal record.

Not that I was actually addicted but I obviously had no real plan to give up the cocaine or the weed and no better idea than drowning my sorrows in foam, usually after 14 hours of work everyday. It had been going on for almost a year, since my mother had died. Since she died and I couldn't be there because I was busy with the company.

Somehow next Saturday came and called my friend to confirm the party. She said that the party had been canceled but she wanted me to visit anyway because her friend would have been there. Why not? I thought.

I spent the most pleasant evening and my friend was right, she was perfect. From the start it seemed like we were a couple already, she sat on my lap all the time, cuddling and looking at each other with deep understanding and curiosity. She is much younger than I am but that night she came to my house and we fell asleep together.

She never moved back. From that day on we never separated, I have rarely gone back to the company aside from major events and have started working from home as much as possible. And gave up all drugs immediately without thinking twice.

After a while I understood my one room apartment in the city was too small for her so I rented a bigger flat near the beach where we moved, living off one another and not much else. I used to joke that she was my prisoner and she would look confused most of the time.

Immediately after moving she was very clear she wanted to go out more, exploring nature and finding new friends. I agreed so we had many long walks on the beach at sunset or anytime my job would allow me. Aside from these walks we were always home, after all we had no friends in our new town and I was overly protective not allowing her to go out alone. I really felt like she was my prisoner and that just didn't feel right although she still seemed happy.

After a couple of years I bought a big house a few miles away, in a small village on a green hill by a natural park. I was confident that I would not be so scared about she going out by herself in a quieter place. I was right and when we moved there I saw so much happiness and gratitude in her eyes because she could finally go out by herself anytime without me having to be there all the time or at my hours. She goes out in the morning after breakfast, exploring nature and meeting the new friends she immediately found but always comes back for dinner, sits with me on our roof terrace at sunset and falls asleep by my side.

She's been the happiest cat ever after.

(sorry very tired, not sure it's well written)
